A Rare Collection of Eleven Hand-Colored Lithographed "Personification" Prints After George Spratt

[Hand-Colored Lithography]. [George Spratt]. Collection of Eleven "Personification" Prints. Baltimore: J. N. Toy & W. R. Lucas, [n.d., ca. 1830's]. "Lith. of Ennicott & Swett." American issues (first published in England by Charles Tilt in the 1830's). Each plate is a charming and unusual hand-colored lithograph of people made up of objects or animals involved in their occupation (for example, "The Entomologist" is made up of insects). All prints are matted. Approximately 8.25 x 7 inches. Quite toned, some are slightly soiled. Still, a very good collection of rare and fascinating prints. Prints include: "The Entomologist," "Crockery," "Fish," "The Conchologist," "Poultry," "The Circulating Library," "The Botanist," "The Itinerant Apothecary," "The Fruiterer," "China," and "The Green Grocer." From the collection of Zita Books.
