[Greece and Armenia]. Joseph Pitton de Tournefort. Relation d'un Voyage du Levant. Amsterdam, 1718. Second edition. Profusely illustrated. From the collection of a gentleman of New York.

    More Information:

Two quarto volumes in one. Approximately 9.75 x 8 inches. [xxvii], 188; [ii], 208, [16, Table des Matieres] pages. With forty-six intertextual engravings and eighty-eight full-page plates throughout. Bound in nineteenth-century half brown calf over marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, marbled endleaves. Front board detached, binding worn, some minor foxing in text, neat marginal notes in ink throughout. Page 147 in volume I has a near near the upper corner. A fair copy. This book not only has much interesting information about Greece, Armenia, and Persia, but as Tournefort was one of the most prominent botanists of the era, it has many detailed plates of the local flora.
