    [George Sandys, translator]. Ovid's Metamorphosis. Englished by G[eorge]. S[andys]. London: [William Stansby], 1626. First edition. Small folio in fours with exception of b and Ss in sixes. Lacking a1 ("The minde of the frontispiece" leaf) and Ss4 (printer's imprint leaf with device), approximately 9.5 x 5.75 inches. [18], 326, [4, index] pages. Pages 62 and 74 misnumbered 63 and 75, respectively. Engraved frontispiece portrait of Ovid by William Marshall. Engraved title page by T. Cecill. Half calf over marbled paper covered boards, black morocco label with gilt title on spine. Boards rubbed with some wear at edges, endpapers foxed. Engraved title shaved along right margin and with previous booksellers faint pencil notation to upper margin. Short marginal closed tears and occasional holograph pencil and ink annotations throughout, shallow cockling to interior of text block. Very good. Sabin 76456. STC 18964.
