    More Information:

Redi (1626-1698?) served as the head physician and pharmacist to the Medici court. He was a member of the Accademia de Cimento and wrote extensively on his experiments with snake venoms. With the aid of a microscope, he studied parasites, the eggs and egg-producing apparatuses of insects and noted the relationships between the decay of organic substances and their infestation by insects. He discredited the theory of spontaneous generation. He was also a noted poet and literary figure and engaged in linguistic studies. The introductory material includes a life by Angelo Fabroni (1732-1803) and an "elogio" by Domenico Brogani (b.1716). Ebert 18741 "The best edition, and more complete than the Florence 1724-17." Blake/NLM 374. Brunet IV,1175.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
