Lavishly Extra-Illustrated

[Extra-Illustrated]. Madame Vestris. Memoirs of the Life, Public and Private Adventures, of Madame Vestris.... London: Printed for the Booksellers, 1839. Quarto. 61 pages. Bound with Memoirs Concerning Madame Vestris, Collected from Various Sources. Filled with over 100 engravings (some hand-colored), sheet music, playbills, et cetera. A fine example of the Victorian mania of grangerizing: locating pertinent engravings of individuals, places, and so on, mentioned within a book, and then rebinding the volume with the new material. Madame Vestris, as a popular actress and singer of the time, would have guaranteed a wealth of such material from magazines, playbills, etc. Attractively bound by S. Kaufmann in full teal morocco over boards. Raised bands. Gilt lettering and designs to compartments with scarlet leather inlays. Gilt tooling and scarlet leather inlays to the boards. Inner doublures of decorative paper with ornate gilt-tooled turn-ins. Very moderate shelf wear to the edges of the boards. In simple slipcase. Near fine.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
