An Autograph Letter Signed by N. C. Wyeth to the Wife of Fellow Artist and his "Mentor," Eric Pape

[Eric Pape]. N. C. Wyeth. Autograph Letter Signed. Chadds Ford Pennsylvania: Jan. 15, '43. One quarto page, written on one quarto leaf of personal stationery. Approximately 10.75 x 7.25 inches. With two horizontal creases, a few words slightly smudged. Near fine. With the original mailing envelope in Wyeth's hand. The letter reads, "Mrs. Eric Pape / New York City / My dear Mrs. Pape: / I am still a profound admirer of / Segantini but the ownership of / one of his paintings is beyond my / hope of achievement. However, I / am gratified that you remembered / my interest in him and of that / episode which seems so remote / now, of our meeting in the Boston / Library! / It is hard for me too, to accept / the passing of my old friend and / enthusiastic mentor who always / symbolized for me such great / vitality of spirit- / Very sincerely yours / N. C. Wyeth."
