[Eragny Press]. [Lucien Pissarro, designer]. Aucassin & Nicolete. London: Eragny Press, 1897, 1903. One of 230 copies. Beautifully bound by Donnelley. Very good.

    More Information:

Octavo. 55 pages. Full color frontispiece, first page printed in red and black. Finely bound by R. R. Donnelley & Sons, Chicago, in contemporary full black levant morocco, boards ruled and "striped" in gilt, and paneled in thin red morocco onlays, spine stamped in gilt, blue calf, gilt doublures with thin red morocco onlays, white watered silk liners. Original covers bound-in at rear, along with a signed roster of binders who designed and bound this book. Joints worn, hinges starting, extremities of spine and corners worn. Still, a very good copy of this lovely book in a sumptuous American binding.

According to the colophon in the rear of the book, it was printed in 1897, but the frontispiece designed and engraved by Pissarro was done in May, 1903.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
