Shoberl's Hindoostan, with 103 Hand-Colored Plates, in the Publisher's Original Boards

[Color-Plate Books]. Frederic Shoberl. The World in Miniature. Hindoostan, containing a description of the religion, manners, customs, trades, arts, sciences, literature, diversions, &c. of The Hindoos. Illustrated with Upwards of One Hundred Coloured Engravings. London: R. Ackermann, [n.d., 1822]. First edition. Six twelvemo volumes. Approximately 6 x 3.5 inches. Complete with 103 frontispieces and plates (several folding) inserted throughout. With twenty-two pages of publisher's ads at the end of volume I (this set issued without half-titles). Bound in the publisher's original varnished buff paper boards, printed spine labels. Bindings a bit soiled and mildly worn, a few joints cracking, one label chipped, some other labels soiled, overopened in several places, some offsetting from plates. Still, a fine set in the rare original boards. With the armorial bookplate of Major Sir Herbert Henry Raphael, 1st Baronet or Beauchamp C. Urquhart (four volumes have Raphael's bookplate, two have Urquhart's, however this does not appear to be a made-up set). Housed in brown cloth slipcase. Abbey Travel 6. From the collection of a gentleman of New York.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
