    More Information:

"The Imperial Benediction monastery at Echternach in Luxembourg received its outstanding place in the history of art as a centre of scribes and illuminators in the eleventh century. A classic document, and the first of this period, is the monumental Golden Gospel-Book written and illuminated around 1030. It provided the model for a great century of Echternach art which is testified to by altogether nine complete or fragmentary manuscripts which have come down to us. Even today this Codex Aureus Epternacensis can be described as the focal point of one of the world's greatest art collections in the Germanic National Museum of Nuremberg in Germany where the precious Gospel-Book found a home in 1955, after a long journey."

"The Golden Gospel-Book of Echternach is a masterpiece of unimaginable splendor and received its name from the abundance of pure gold used on almost every page. Although the Echternach scriptorium became renowned also for its later codices of larger and smaller size, the first golden manuscript remained exemplary for its precious and balanced design and for the variety of ornamental and figurative motives in its decoration." (from the Prospectus).

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
