Being the addresses of the President to the nation and Congress concerning the involvement of the United States in a war with the Empire of Japan, and Axis Powers. Philadelphia: Ritten House, 1942. First edition, one of 20 lettered copies (this being letter "J") reserved for Members of the Cabinet and for presentation. Small octavo. 64 pages. Full navy blue morocco. Lettered and bordered in gilt, all edges gilt. Red ribbon marker. In lightly sunned slipcase, with letter "J" in ink at foot of spine. A fine copy, from the collection of FDR's Secretary of Agriculture, Claude R. Wickard.

    More Information:

    From the collection of Claude R. Wickard (1893-1967) who served as Secretary of Agriculture in Roosevelt's cabinet from 1940 to 1945. He resigned the cabinet post in 1945 to head the Rural Electrification Administration, a New Deal agency created by FDR to promote and encourage rural electrification.
