Description[Charles Robert Maturin]; Dennis Jasper Murphy, pseudonym. Fatal Revenge; Or, The Family of Montorio. A Romance. London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme, 1807. First edition. Three Volumes. 12mo. 400; 518; 493, [1, blank], [2, publisher's advertisements] pages. Uniformly bound in half-calf over marbled boards, stamped in blind, spine stamped in blind and gilt. Corners bumped, moderate edgewear, joints just starting, somewhat rubbed. Cream endpapers; all three volumes with armorial bookplate of Arthur Melville Clark of Herriotshall and Oxton to the front pastedown, minor offsetting, front hinge of Volumes II and III just starting. Internally generally clean and tight, all edges trimmed and sprinkled; minor foxing and thumbsoiling, a few pages creased, page 203 of Volume III with a closed tear horizontally across the bottom third of a page. Housed in tan cloth clamshell case by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, black leather spine label stamped in gilt. Very good or better.
