    Rubaiyat Exquisitely Bound by Charles Meunier

    [Charles Meunier, binder]. Omar Khayyam. [Justin Huntly McCarthy, M.P., translator]. SIGNED/LIMITED. Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. London: David Nutt, 1889. Limited to sixty copies printed on Japon, signed by the publisher and hand numbered, of which this is numbered 54. Octavo. 62, 156 pages. Bound in full light brown morocco with gilt rules and bright multi colored leather inlays in an interlocking floral pattern on boards, four raised spines with titles in gilt and similar leather inlays in three compartments, elaborate light blue doublures featuring gilt circle and floral patterns, silk free endpapers, verso of free endpapers and facing pages marbled, all edges gilt. Housed in a dark brown pull-off box, lined in suede, and stamped with gilt title on spine. Binding stamped in gilt on the lower border of the front doublure: "Ch. Meunier 1901." Some shelf wear and light rubbing to pull-off box, light erasure marks and small spots to first blank page, rest of pages clean, otherwise a near fine copy in a stunning binding.
