First Reynolds edition, limited to 350 copies, of which this is number 167, and signed by the illustrator. Large quarto. xv, 174 pages. Twenty-five tipped-in color plates, including frontispiece, behind captioned tissue guards. Illustrated title page. Bound in full vellum, front cover title in gilt Mr. Pickwick; Pages from the Pickwick Papers with a black on gilt silhouette illustration, gilt titles on spine, top edge gilt, lacking ties. Boards bowed, scuffed and soiled, front joint cracked at the head, vellum crease at foot of spine. Pages with edge wear, few small edge tears, minor foxing and smudging. Plates with light edge wear and few small corner bends. Very good.
