A Rare Centennial Facsimile Broadside of the Declaration of Independence

[Broadside]. "1776-1876 Centennial Memorial" Declaration of Independence Facsimile. New York: James D. McBride, Printed by the Colombian Publishing Company, [ca. 1876, although copyright date at bottom left states "1874"]. Facsimile reproducing the original Declaration of Independence and all signatures (some broadsides were issued with either advertisements or an image of Independence Hall, obscuring some signatures). Printed on black on thin, cream-colored, paper. At lower left, is the Department of Interior's printed seal, and the facsimile signature of the Secretary of the Interior stating that this item is "perfect Fac.Simile of the original document now on deposit in the Patent Office at Washington, D. C." At the very bottom, is a tiny notice advertising plate paper edition with a red printed seal. Approximately 19 x 13.5 inches visible. Somewhat toned, some horizontal and vertical creases and a few small wrinkles, with some very tiny holes at corners of creases. Matted, framed and glazed. Despite the minor flaws, this is a fine example of this rare and fragile item.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
