    [Botany]. James Sowerby. English Botany; or, Coloured Figures of British Plants... London: Printed for the Author by J. Davis, et al., 1790-1814. First edition. Thirty-seven volumes, including Index volume, bound into eighteen octavo volumes. With 2,591, of 2,592 hand-colored plates of British plants, (lacking plate 469). Bound by J. Searle in contemporary full green straight-grain morocco, boards ruled in blind and paneled in gilt, spines tooled, ruled and lettered in gilt, gilt board edges and turn-ins, marbled endleaves. Bookplates of Edward Dowdeswell in each volume. Spines uniformly sunned to brown, some wear to bindings, several joints and hinges starting, binder's ticket in each volume, some plates foxed, or with edgewear and mild chipping or tears. Still, a very good set of this monumental work.
