    [Bookplates]. Edwin Davis French. Collection of Fourteen Bookplates, One Framed with a Printed Legend of Its Symbols, and Another Framed with an Autograph Letter Signed. [N.p., n.d.] All bookplates and other items are matted, framed and glazed in five separate frames. Frames range in size from 21.5 x 16 to 12.75 x 17.5 inches. Autograph Letter Signed is approximately 6.75 x 6.75 inches; legend of symbol sheet is approximately 9 x 7 inches, as is the bookplate (most likely a proof) accompanying it. Featuring the bookplates of the Hohenzollern Collection for the Harvard College Library, the Library of Princeton University, The Grolier Club, Edward Dean Adams, and Elizabeth Jordan.
    Edwin Davis French (1851-1906) began his career as a silver engraver, but changed his focus entirely to designing bookplates in 1893. By the time of his death, he was the premier bookplate designer in the United States (designing over 300 bookplates).
