    Bookplates toned with scattered areas of foxing, handling crimps and edge chipping. Attractively matted, glazed and framed in three separate frames to 21 x 20.5, 27.25 x 12.5 , and 18.75 x 14.75 inches. One frame contains an example of the first bookplate for Harvard College, c. 1750, a book cover featuring Hurd's die for stamping Harvard presentation books and a dance invitation Hurd created just before the Revolution. A second frame features altered bookplates including one for Thomas Dering in 1749. Using Hurd's design, an unknown engraver altered it for a descendant. Third frame features bookplates by prominent New Englanders.
