The very rare first edition, first printing of Alcoholics Anonymous' famous "Big Red Book". Octavo. [x], 400, [6, blank] pages. Publisher's binding of full red cloth, front cover lettered in gilt, spine lettered in gilt. In the rare original dust jacket. Jacket spine a bit toned, some foxing, dampstaining (at corners) and thumbsoiling to jacket, jacket chipped at front panel near headcap and lower corner, several tears (with corresponding tape repairs to verso. Binding a bit rubbed, gilt in binding oxidized, gutters before title-page and between second and third blank leaves starting. Still, a good copy of this very rare title, uncommon in the original dust jacket in any condition. It is believed that only 4,760 copies of the ordered run of 5,000 were printed due to paper shortages.
