    The 1688 "Clementine" Vulgate Bible

[Bible in Latin]. Biblia Sacra. Vulgatae Editionis Sixti V. Pontificis Max, Iussu Recognita, et Clementis VIII Auctoritate Edita, Versiculis Distincta. Venice: Nicolaum Pezzana, 1688. Early edition of the "Clementine" Vulgate bible, originally published in 1592. Quarto. Approximately 11 x 7 inches. [xx], 1089, [1, blank] pages. Title-page printed in red and black, beautiful engraved woodcuts and initials throughout. Bound in mid-twentieth-century full burgundy morocco, front cover and spine lettered in gilt, all edges stained red at time of binding. Front board is limp morocco, rear cover is morocco over board. A few leaves with tears (including title-page), some occasional foxing and thumbsoiling in text. Overall, a good copy. This version of the bible was the standard version used by the Catholic Church for many years.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
