Okes for Jasper Emery, 1641. First edition. Small quarto. Approximately 6.75 x 5.25 inches. [62], 376 pages. Lacking the frontispiece. Nineteenth-century paneled calf, boards double-ruled in gilt, spine ruled in gilt, burgundy gilt morocco lettering label, five raised bands, all edges stained red. Boards detached, first nine leaves with plain paper reinforcement to fore-edge with some loss of text, last sixty pages or so with some worm damage, some minor occasional soiling. Fair. This compilation is based on the prior works of Holinshed, Fabyan and Geoffrey of Monmouth. Various authors took this story and re-wrote and expanded it (including Sir Thomas Malory). Wing H1786.
