Quarto (11.375 x 9 inches; 290 x 230 mm.). xv, [1, blank], 147, [1, printer's note] pages (note: pages 1 and 2 are blank); frontispiece and eleven additional illustrated plates mounted to brown paper and inserted throughout, with captioned tissue guards; in-text illustrations. Publisher's vellum, spine and front board lettered and pictorially stamped in gilt; renewed silk ties; top edge gilt, other untrimmed; pictorial endpapers. Some rubbing to spine, with minor loss to gilt; boards splayed; a few spots of soiling to boards. Gift inscription on front free endpaper; tissue guard opposite page sixty-two lacking.
