    Description

[Anonymous]. Dee Goong An. Three Murder Cases Solved by Judge Dee. An old Chinese detective novel translated from the original Chinese with an introduction and notes by R. H. van Gulik, Litt. D. Tokyo: Printed for the author by Toppan Printing Company, 1949. First translated edition, limited to numbered copies, of which this is No. 672, and signed by the translator. Octavo. [14], xxiii, [1], 237, [1, blank] pages. Nine plates, three of which are reproductions of original Chinese images, and six of which are drawn by the author after Chinese models. Publisher's pictorial boards; all text block edges trimmed. Trace of color added at spine ends and corners of binding to disguise wear; boards lightly rubbed; bit of wear along top and bottom edges of boards. Text block edges browned; endpapers and interior dulled; a few tiny spot-stains at fore-edge. Very good. Housed in custom clamshell.
