Publisher's full harlequin cloth, gilt, decorative endleaves. The Violet Fairy Book and The Pink Fairy Book with dust jacket. Jackets worn, soiled and chipped, Pink Fairy jacket mounted onto paper. In general, all bindings rubbed and moderately worn, some overopened in a few places, several with previous owner's signatures or inkstamps. In general, a very good set, seldom found complete.
    Andrew Lang [1844-1912] was a Scottish scholar who carried on a tireless research in the field of folklore. "His 'coloured' fairy books have been popular with boys and girls since their first appearance." (Osborne Collection I, pp. 34-36, and II, p. 604). The San Clemente Collection.
