Extra engraved title page plate, thirty-four large text cuts, and seven vignettes most by Matthias Merian. The added plates of the Pansophia at the end are here in the first two-and-a-half folding plates [of four]. Plate three is only the lower half and plate four is lacking. Lacks front endpaper, back lower outer corner of typographic title page restored; minor stains, browning as usual, neat repairs to folding plates at rear. Very good. The second edition of 1677-8 added, 13-16. Matthias Merian supplied seventeen fine engravings for Lambsprinck's work, fourteen engravings for Basil Valentine.
All editions are rare and they are even more rarely found in good condition. This is an essential work in the study of alchemy.
