    [Al] Hirschfeld. William Saroyan, text. Harlem as Seen by Hirschfeld. New York: The Hyperion Press, [1941]. First edition, limited to 1,000 copies, of which this is numbered "339."

    Folio. Unpaginated, six pages of text by William Saroyan, followed by twenty-four tipped-in original lithographs by Al Hirschfeld accompanied by title sheets. Publisher's white cloth rebacked, front board lettered in brown with central color illustration to front board. Moderate orange brown endpapers. Boards somewhat rubbed and soiled, spine leaning a bit, cloth slightly discolored from toning, corners bumped with cloth abraded and boards showing, lower edges bumped and dented, cloth fraying a bit on edges. Text block a touch shaken, light toning text block margins and on margins of pages and plates, a few gutter hinges over-opened with bits of mull cloth exposed, ink marks on title sheets proceeding tipped-in illustrations. A good copy with beautiful illustrations by Al Hirschfeld.
