Description[Agatha Christie]. Unfinished Portrait. By Mary Westmacott (pseudonym). London: Collins, 1934. First edition. Octavo (7.25 x 4.875 inches; 184 x 123 mm.). 316, [4, printer's statement and blank] pages. Publisher's blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt; all edges trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Spine ends crimped and faded with slight loss of gilt lettering along top edge; faint splotches of discoloration to boards, with further mild discoloration to top and bottom edges of boards; corners tapped. Text block softly age yellowed; speckle-soiling and small surface scratches to edges; endpapers faintly foxed; previous owner signature to front free endpaper; soiled scrap of cobweb stuck at upper corner of page 87. Chipping to ends of jacket spine panel, with small hole toward bottom and short tears at three ends of panel folds (longest just over 1.25 inches), reinforced with tape at verso; rubbing and soiling to spine and rear panel; small chip out of bottom of front panel, with further short tears, and associated creasing, at top edges of front and rear panels, reinforced with tape at verso; flap folds worn and creased with chips at ends, one reinforced at verso. Mild speckling and foxing at verso. Very good copy of this scarce book, in a good jacket. The first copy to be offered at auction by Heritage, with no other records in Rare Book Hub.
