    Legends of the West

Wyatt and Josephine Earp: Dually-Signed Mining Document. 8.5" x 13.75" printed and manuscript document [D.S.] titled "Location Notice Quartz Claim". San Bernardino, California, December 28, 1913. The claim is designated the "North Star Mine". Signed by "Josephine Earp" as Witness and "Wyatt Earp" as Locator. Silked on verso with stains and areas of loss, as shown, affecting the last two letters of "Wyatt" and the middle initial "S". After his days in Tombstone, Earp dabbled heavily in mining and saloons. His signature is quite rare and sought-after. We don't recall seeing any documents that had both his signature and that of his wife, Josephine (né Marcus).
