A graduate of the United States Military Academy, he jumped with his men into Normandy on June 6, 1944, becoming the first Allied general to land in France on D-Day. He commanded the 101st Airborne Division for the rest of the war. Later he was superintendent of West Point and the Army Chief of Staff. Taylor recommended to President Kennedy that 8,000 American combat troops be sent to South Vietnam to bolster the government. President Johnson named Taylor Ambassador to South Vietnam, where he served from 1964 to 1965.

His stories were generally semi-autobiographical, blending fiction, and factual episodes. His short stories appeared in Cosmopolitan, Redbook, College Humor, Smart Set, Liberty, and McClure's. Springs also wrote plays and Hollywood screen scripts.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
