    Maxwell D. Taylor was an American soldier and diplomat. A graduate of the United States Military Academy, he jumped with his men into Normandy on June 6, 1944, becoming the first Allied general to land in France on D-Day. He commanded the 101st Airborne Division for the rest of the war. Later he was superintendent of West Point and the Army Chief of Staff. Taylor recommended to President Kennedy that 8,000 American combat troops be sent to South Vietnam to bolster the government. President Johnson named Taylor Ambassador to South Vietnam, where he served from 1964 to 1965.


    John W. "Iron Mike" O'Daniel was a United States Army general, best known for commanding the Third Infantry Division in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and Southern France during World War II.


    Elliott White Springs was America's fifth ranking ace in World War One and one of the best-known writers of fiction during the 1920s. His stories were generally semi-autobiographical, blending fiction, and factual episodes. His short stories appeared in Cosmopolitan, Redbook, College Humor, Smart Set, Liberty, and McClure's. Springs also wrote plays and Hollywood screen scripts.
