Woman's Suffrage Archive of Important Autograph Letters From Henry and Lucy Stone Blackwell. This exceptional lot includes (1) an autograph letter signed "Henry B. Blackwell", one page, on Office of the Woman's Journal letterhead, 5.75" x 9.75", Boston, June 12, 1889, to Mrs. Underwood. Blackwood makes apologies on behalf of his wife, Alice Stone Blackwell, for not giving a poem sent to the Woman's Journal proper attention in her duties as literary editor. Blackwell writes, in part: "Our literary editor, A.S.B. is off in [illegible] on a little tour of Suffrage meetings. She will attend to Mrs. Tuttle's poem as she as possible...". The letter has the usual fold creases, else it is in near fine condition. (2) an autograph letter signed "Lucy Stone", one page, 4.25" x 6", Dorchester, November 19, 1892, to Alice Taylor Jacobs. Ms Stone thanks Ms Jacobs for a complimentary ticket to an event held by the Dorchester Women's Club. Trivial foxing, else near fine. (3) a typed letter signed "Alice Stone Blackwell", one page, 8.5" x 11", Boston, October 4, 1919. Written on the eve of the passing of the Nineteenth Amendment Blackwell writes, in part: "It is a joy to know that nation-wide suffrage is so near, and also to realize that so much warm good-will is felt towards me for my share in the long fight, and so much gratitude to my dear father and mother for their much greater share...". With the usual fold creases, and the signature is slightly faded, else near fine. (4) an undated four-page printed pamphlet, 5.5" x 8.5", titled "Should Women Vote?". Fine condition.
