    Winfield Scott Hancock: Signed Carte de Visite. 1865 Mathew Brady CDV with gold-ruled borders showing a vignetted bust of Hancock facing left. The Union general, known for his success at Gettysburg and labeled "The Superb," has signed in the image, "Winfd. S. Hancock Maj. Gen. U. S. Vols. Comdg M. M. Def." The verso has a detailed identification of Hancock as commander of the "Middle Military Division" who "...wrote his autograph on this - this evening - Thursday Sept. 7, 1865." 2-cent revenue stamp affixed to verso. The nicest signed Hancock we have ever seen. Condition is likewise "superb."
