    William Samuel Johnson Autograph Letter Signed "Wm Saml Johnson," one page, 7.5" x 6". [Connecticut], April 12, 1754, to Thomas Seymour, Hartford. In full, "Mr. Olmsted tells me there are some hopes that his affairs with Mr. Holland & Messrs Ludlow may be settled. You will therefore consider whether it be not best to suffer a continuance in the two Cases on Bond & one on Note." William Samuel Johnson, a signer of the Constitution, served as a delegate to the Stamp Act Congress held in New York City in October 1765. From 1785-1787, he represented Connecticut in the Continental Congress and in the U.S. Senate from 1789-1791. A graduate of Yale (1744) and Harvard (1747), Johnson was the first President of Columbia College from 1787-1800. Mounting strip affixed to the left edge of the letter which is in very fine condition.
