William Prescott Document Signed. One partially-printed page, 13" x 8.25", Middlesex [Massachusetts], May 9, 1767. Prescott here, with his brother James, is selling their parents land to their younger brother, Oliver, in part: "James Prescott . . . & William Prescott . . . In Consideration of Four Hundred Pounds Lawful Money, paid us by Oliver Prescott . . . The Receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge, do hereby give, grant, sell and convey . . . all the Houses Buildings & Lands which belonged to our Hond. Father Benja. Prescott . . . and were let off to our Hond. mother Mrs. Abigail Prescott." Docketed on the verso, which has been expertly silked. Separation of the folds at the chipped edges. Light to moderate toning with scattered spots of foxing.

William Prescott (1726-1795), a veteran of King George's War and the French and Indian War, joined the rebel cause in 1774. He was made a colonel in the Massachusetts militia. His men formed the core of the defense at Bunker Hill, where he was credited with ordering his men not to fire "until you see the whites of their eyes." With the formation of the Continental Army, he was commissioned a colonel and his men became the 7th Continental Regiment, seeing action in the defense of New York and the Saratoga Campaign.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
