    William Penn Appointment Signed. One page, 10.5" x 12", Pennsberry; May 21, 168[6]. A document appointing Phinohas [Phineas] Pemberton "Clerk of ye Court for ye County of Bucks..." Issued by Penn as, "Proprietary & Govern'r of ye Province of Pennsilvania [sic] & ye Territories thereunto belonging..." Embossed with paper peppercorn seal. Docketed on verso with an endorsement written and signed by Pemberton.

    Condition: Several areas of repair on verso at weakened folds, including one area of tape repair. Small hole through date on recto. Loss at all four corners. Two areas of dried adhesive at top and bottom edges on recto. Lightly foxed and soiled with moderate edgewear. Pencil notation to verso.
