William McKinley Letter Signed to Katherine "Kittie" Endsley Mathews. Two pages (recto and verso of a single sheet) on Ohio governor letterhead, 8.4" x 10.75", Columbus, Ohio, December 14, 1894. McKinley sends Christmas greetings to his niece Kittie, and provides an update on Ida's health: "Ida and I returned last Sunday from a ten days visit in New York, where we had a very enjoyable time. Ida looks and feels better than she has in for some time. Just now she is busy getting ready for Christmas. She says she wishes you were here to help her out." Evenly toned, with bold ink.

The McKinleys lost both of their daughters in infancy, a loss from which the fragile Ida never recovered. The couple showered all of their affection on the children of their siblings. Kittie Endsley, her aunt was married to Abner McKinley (the President's younger brother), was a favorite; and the couple often relied on her to help care and provide company for Ida.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
