    William Lamb (Lord Melbourne) Autograph Letter Signed "Wm Lamb". Two pages of a bifolium, 4.75" x 7.5", June 3, 1828. In part: "I have this morning received your letter I have written [illegible]...I am not able to leave town at present, but hope to be able to [illegible] down in the course of the summer."

    Melbourne was a British Whig Statesman who served as Prime Minister in 1834 and from 1835 to 1841. He is best known for his intense mentoring of Queen Victoria, at ages 18-21, in the ways of politics.

    Along with a Benjamin Disraeli Signed Cover. Mourning cover, 5" x 3.75". Addressed in the hand of Disraeli to Frederick Arthur Stanley: "Private / The Earl of Derby - Beaconsfield." Disraeli played a central role in the creation of the modern Conservative Party, and is remembered for his influential voice in world affairs, his political battles with Liberal Party leader William Ewart Gladstone, and his one-nation conservatism, or "Tory democracy". Frederick Stanley, 16th Earl of Derby, was known as Lord Stanley of Preston between 1886 and 1893. He served as the sixth Governor General of Canada from 1888 to 1893. As an avid sportsman, is famous in North America for presenting Canada with the Stanley Cup, which is used in the National Hockey League.

    Condition: Lightly toned with some small areas of soiling at edges. Disraeli cover has some paper loss along top and left edges.
