    Description

    William H. Taft Typed Letter Signed "Wm H Taft." One page, 8" x 10.5", Washington, D.C.; May 9, 1922. An invitation to the Governor of Connecticut on Lincoln Memorial Commission letterhead: "The dedication of the beautiful Lincoln Memorial in Potomac Park will take place on the afternoon of Decoration Day, May 30th, at half past two. As Chairman of the Commission, I beg to extend a special invitation to you to attend, and also to send to me a list of some twenty-five prominent citizens of your State to whom you would like to have me send invitations in the name of the Commission. The address of acceptance will be made by the President. If you will signify the fact of your attendance, I shall be glad to direct the special provision be made for your seating." Signed by Taft as Chairman of the Commission.

    Condition: Usual mail folds and light toning. A small amount of creasing at upper left corner. Otherwise very good.
