    William H. Taft Group Lot Including 2 Letters, a Signed Photo, and a Clipped Signature. Includes:

    Autograph Letter Signed "Wm H Taft". One page, 8" x 10.5", New Haven; April 9, 1921. A letter addressed to Carson Hathaway with the original transmittal envelope, concerning a speech to be given at a high school. It reads, in part: "I was glad to know that you are to address the pupils of the High School under whose auspices I spoke, at their commencement. The message to the students of the High School I would give is a call to them to a life of continuous, intelligent hard work. The man or woman with average mentality, but with self control, with a definite goal, and a clear perception of how it can be gained, and above all with the form of application and labor wins in the end..."

    William H. Taft Typed Letter Signed, 8" x 10.5", February 2, 1926. A letter to Carson Hathaway concerning an article Hathaway was writing.

    William H. Taft Clipped Signature, 5.25" x 2.5", dated October 11, 1912.

    William H. Taft Signed Photograph, 7.75" x 9.75", black and white image of Taft as Chief Justice, signed "Sincerely yours, Wm H Taft, July 29, 1925."

    Condition: Letters have usual mail folds with some toning and foxing. Silvering on photograph, flattened fold down the middle, with some small creases in areas around the edges. Typed letter has been torn in places, and had previously been taped to repair.
