William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody: Autograph Letter Signed with Envelope. 1 pg. ALS, Iola, Kansas, September 10, 1911, written by Cody to Irving Bacon on 8.5" x 10" letterhead of "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Combined with Pawnee Bill's Great Far East" letterhead. The legendary showman talks about paucity of funds and his reluctance to commission a painting at a cost of $750. "I wish you would not go on with the Miles painting as I don't find it convenient... Besides I would like to know more about how you propose to group the principle figures and picture the Indian Village, paint the bad lands & c... I don't feel like I would like to pay 750. even if I had the money." Matted and framed with the transmittal envelope addressed by Cody. A fine example of a Cody letter with good content.
