William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody: Autograph Letter Signed "Uncle" on His Historical Pictures Co. Letterhead. This most interesting lot includes a William F. Cody ALS on the letterhead of "The Col. W. F. Cody ('Buffalo Bill') Historical Pictures Co." of Denver and Chicago. It is accompanied by the original transmittal envelope, postmarked April 10, 1914, in Long Beach, California. The letter features a large portrait of Cody and a laudatory description of his accomplishments and the proposed film project. "This is the first legitimate enterprise that, with experience and good faith, has immortalized the stirring events of American history and Indian fighting into moving pictures... His name [Cody] is the name of the victories of American civilization, and, in order to give the best that is to the eyes of the world, these impressive, historical moving pictures will be produced under the direction of the Essanay Film Manufacturing Company of Chicago." (Essanay is famous for producing a number of Charlie Chaplin short subjects in 1914). In spite of the glowing remarks, the aging impresario reveals some anxiety in his letter: "Yes I'll be pleased to visit the Kiddes. Could invite them to the show. Am anxiously waiting to hear from the east more about the Picture game and if I can do anything for you. Love to you both Uncle." Cody was here attempting to make use of the technology that had contributed to the decline of live entertainment.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
