    William Clark Autograph Document Signed "Wm Clark L.T.S.L." One page, 7.25" x 5.25", Greeneville, Northwest Territory; May 26, 1794. A short document, directing John Mills, Adjutant, to "deliver one quart of Whiskey for the use of the Chickasaw Indians." With docketing on verso, signed by James Donelson.

    Just ten years before co-leading the famous expedition with Meriwether Lewis, William Clark was serving as a lieutenant in the Northwest Indian War. Assigned to the 4th Sub-Legion, he was involved in several skirmishes and led a command of riflemen at the Battle of Fallen Timbers on August 20, 1794. This decisive win helped bring an end to the war.

    Condition: With flattened folds, and light uneven toning. Ink transference from folding. Two small holes at the center of document.
