    Description

William Bowen Campbell Autograph Letter Signed "W.B. Campbell." One page handwritten document, measuring 7" x 10", dated May 6, 1858, from Lebanon, Indiana. William Bowen Campbell was the governor of Tennessee from 1851 to 1853, and he was colonel of the famed 1st Tennessee regiment in the Mexican War. At the battle of Monterrey he is said to have yelled, "Boys Follow Me!" which became the rallying cry for his 1851 gubernatorial campaign. The content of the letter is standard. A wonderful lot for Mexican war enthusiasts, as well as collectors interested in the state of Tennessee.

The letter is in good condition; there is some foxing on the body of the letter; slight soiling around the edges of the paper; the letter is backed onto another sheet of paper with glue. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
