DescriptionVictor Hugo Autograph Letter Signed. One page of a bifolium, 5" x 8", Hauteville House; April 20 (no year), written in French. Includes engraving, 7.75" x 11" (sight) matted to measure 11" x 16". Untranslated, written from his house on Guernsey, where he lived in exile from 1856 to 1870.
French author Victor Hugo (1802-1885) is best known for his works Notre-Dame de Paris (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame) and Les Misérables.
Condition: Letter has light toning that is darker at edges, usual mail folds, small paper loss and square of tape on verso, minimal ink transfer. Engraving has some buckling, but is still attractive.
