Ulysses S. Grant Autograph Endorsement Signed "U. S. Grant." Placed upon the integral page of a one page John C. Cox letter, 7.75" x 9.75", Columbus [Kentucky], October 31, 1862, to Grant in which he requests a "leave of absence from my duties at this Post for the term of fifteen days." Grant, having received the letter at his headquarters in Jackson, writes, in part: "Approved and respectfully forwarded to Head Quarters of the Army. Capt. Cox has been a most faithful and efficient officer in the discharge of his duties." Separation at the folds has been repaired with clear tape. With an engraved portrait of Grant in uniform.

John Cooke Cox (1817-1872) enlisted as a captain in the Commissary Department on August 5, 1861. When he resigned in June 1864, he was a colonel by brevet. One week later, he was given a brevet brigadier generals commission.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
