Woodrow Wilson Typed Letter Signed on White House Letterhead. One page with blank integral, 7" x 8.75", Washington, D.C.; February 21, 1916. A letter to Senator Duncan U. Fletcher declining an honorary chairmanship: "I have your interesting letter of February sixteenth with its enclosure. I am sorry to say that I cannot see my way to accept the honorary chairmanship of the American Peace Bell Committee of the Southern Commercial Congress. I have made it a principle all my life not to connect myself with anything in which I could not take an active part, at least of counsel, and I would be very much embarrassed if at this late date I were to break that rule." Signed by Wilson in blue ink.

Condition: Light creasing along folds; light toning, with a bit of discoloration along right edge. Typed ink has bled slightly throughout.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
