Laffan, at The New York Sun, disputing an article written by Poultney Bigelow about "the mismanagement of affairs on the Isthmus of Panama." Taft writes, "Bigelow is a noted liar and does not deserve the notice we give him, but the President thought it important to go through one article of this kind and show its inaccuracies and malicious misstatements, in order to illustrate the character of articles of this kind which the opponents of the canal and of the administration are just now delighting to circulate." Signed "Wm H Taft."

From the Estate of Malcolm S. Forbes.

Condition: Usual mail folds; uneven toning, darker around edges and along center horizontal fold. A bit of ghosting at top.
