Description

William Howard Taft Typed Letter Signed as President "Wm H Taft". One page, 6.5" x 8.25", White House letterhead, Washington, June 22, 1911, to John A. Dix. Writing to the governor of New York, Roosevelt writes: "Mrs.Taft [sic] and I were greatly gratified to receive your telegram of June 19th, and wish you and Mrs. Dix to know of our deep appreciation of your congratulations and felicitations. We are very sorry you and Mrs. Dix could not participate with us in the festivities of the occasion..." June 18, 1911 had been the Taft's Silver Wedding Anniversary, and without a doubt, this was the reason for the Dix's congratulatory telegram. The letter is in fine condition and is double matted with a wonderful vintage B&W photo of Taft, framed to an overall size of 22.75" x 16.5". Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
