William H. Taft Three Typed Letters Signed and Helen Taft Two Autograph Letters Signed.


William H. Taft Typed Letter Signed. One page on his personal imprinted letterhead, 5.4" x 8.4"; Augusta, Georgia; January 11, 1909. A letter to C. C. Connell regarding a recommendation to serve in his administration. Signed, "Wm H Taft." Flattened mail folds, and stray smudges. Mounting tab on verso of blank integral page. Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope.

William H. Taft Typed Letter Signed. One page on White House letterhead, 7" x 8.75"; March 4, 1912. A letter of introduction regarding his campaign for re-election: "This will introduce to you Mr. Charles Otis of Cleveland, the proprietor of the Cleveland NEWS, the only paper in that part of the State that is standing by the Administration..." Signed, "Wm H Taft." Slight discoloration from age toning, light soiling to edges. Signature is a bit feathered. Soiling to verso of blank integral page, where there appears a brief pencil annotation.

William H. Taft Typed Letter Signed. One page on Supreme Court letterhead, 8" x 10.5"; February 26. 1929. A letter to Frances Henry Appleton declining an invitation to become a member of the Governor and Company of Massachusetts Bay in New England. Signed, "Wm H Taft." Flattened mail folds, and previous collector's note in pencil written at bottom. Additional pencil annotations on verso.

Helen Taft Autograph Letter Signed. Two pages of a bifolium, 4.25" x 5.75", Hot Springs; November 8, 1908. A letter to a Mrs. Oliver thanking her for her congratulations, presumably for the election of Taft to the presidency. Ink stain to top right corner. Mounting remnant and light soiling to verso of integral page. "Helen Taft" is written in pencil on an interior page.

Helen Taft Autograph Letter Signed. Four pages of a bifolium, 4.25" x 5.75", on White House imprinted letterhead; November 6, 1911. A letter to Mrs. Cox of the Virginia Colonial Dames accepting a copy of a portrait of Dolley Madison by Gilbert Stuart for the White House. Usual mail folds, light soiling.
