    Description

Warren G. Harding Typed Letter Signed. One page of a bifolium, 7" x 9", Washington, D.C.; March 4, 1922. A letter typed on White House stationery addressed to William C. Sproul, Governor of Pennsylvania; marked "Personal" in blue pencil in the top right corner. The President thanks the Pennsylvania governor for his congratulations on his election victory, "...I appreciate very deeply your generous expressions. I am more than grateful to you for your confidence and your good will." Signed, "Warren G. Harding".

Harding had offered Sproul the Vice President place on the ticket in 1920, but Sproul had declined. Had Sproul accepted, he would have become the 30th president of the United States after Harding passed away while in office.

Condition: Light toning around edges, center mail fold, very small spots of soiling. Otherwise fine.
