Warren G Harding Signature. Important letter from the President in connection with the Air Mail Service. Typed letter signed " Warren G Harding" On White House stationary 7.0"x 8.75". Addressed to Herbert Work, Postmaster General, December 21, 1922. "My dear General Work: I am enclosing to you here with a copy of the report made to me by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, relative to the most practical and promising program for the Post Office Department to adopt in connection with the development of the Air Mail Service. I submit the report for your consideration, and am entirely agreeable to its presentation to the House Committee on Appropriations if your Department deems it an entirely practical and desirable plan. My own thought has been that we might very largely diminish the expenditure on daytime flying in the postal service and appropriate the major portion of available funds to the development of night flying. Once that is proven to be feasible we could embark very consistently on a more ambitious program. I will be glad to have your views concerning the matter." Very good condition, Postmaster stamp, in red, upper left corner. Folded with two punch holes at the top. Small dampstains at the fold. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
