    Ulysses S. Grant Naval Appointment Signed "U. S. Grant" as president. One partially-printed vellum page, 16" x 19.75", Washington, March 21, 1870, countersigned by Naval Secretary George M. Robeson appointing John Hunker a "Lieutenant in the Navy." Signatures are clear. With maritime vignettes and a large blue seal in the lower margin. Smoothed folds and toned paper.
